The first step in treating head lice is getting a proper diagnosis.
Nits (lice eggs) can look similar to dandruff, and adult head lice move quickly and avoid light, so they can be hard to see. Misdiagnosis is common. Therefore, if you think your child might have head lice, it is important to contact a school nurse or other healthcare provider.
